Long Beach Firefighters Softball Team

Here at Local 372 we have our softball team where members come together and try to relive the glory days out of the softball diamond. We have about 30 members who are a part of our team. Our team practices once a month at El Dorado Park to fine tune our skills in preparation for our games. We participate in monthly one day tournaments against other fire department softball teams.

If you are interested in playing contact James Dolas or Nick Marantz.

Firefighter Summer Games 2019

Members of the softball team headed down to beautiful San Diego for the Firefighter Summer Games (formally Firefighter Olympics). Fourteen members played two days of softball. The first day was pool play, and our team went 1-2 on the day. The second day was the beginning of double-elimination, and our team unfortunately lost our first two games. Our first game, we lost in an extra inning battle to Fresno FD 27-25 with one highlight - Josh Hogan hitting for “the cycle” with a Grand Slam as his home run. Our second game, we lost to Sac Metro FD 14-8 to knock us out of the tournament. We are looking forward to next year when the Summer Games come to Anaheim!

Your Local 372 Members have been hard at work giving back to the community we care about and serve. Members participate by volunteering their time contributing and supporting a number of events held throughout the city. Please keep an eye out for emails/text from the Local for upcoming events! Below are a couple of the events members have volunteered and dedicated their time off to give back!

Long Beach Firefighters provided hot dogs for the El Dorado Park Neighborhood Association’s Annual Picnic. This event was attended by the residents surrounding El Dorado Park to come out and enjoy a beautiful day in the park with their neighbors. Our members cooked up some hot dogs for the event and had a great time interacting with the community.

Special Olympic Athletes from all over Southern California came together at California State University of Long Beach to compete in their annual Summer Games. Long Beach Firefighters Local 372 have supported this event and its athletes for a number of years! This year our members continued that support by providing a pancake breakfast for the participants and their families. This year our members had the honor of being requested to place the medals on the athletes at their medal ceremony!

Great time at Romona Park in Northtown Long Beach for the Father’s Day BBQ and Blues Concert that was put on by Councilmember Rex Richardson. Long Beach Firefighters provided hot dogs for all the Dads and their families during the magic show and concert. Our members had a great time listening to some good music and giving back to the community members of District 9.
